Is túisce deoch ná scéal = A drink comes before a story

The Menlo Park Hotel will celebrate 15 years of business on June 12th 2013. The hotel has changed a great deal since it opened in 1998. When Paddy Francis had the vision to build a hotel on his family land it consisted of a restaurant and bar, function room for up to 100 people and 44 bedrooms. Paddy wanted the bar to become a hub of the local community and he took great pleasure in having our locals mingle with and show what a true Irish welcome is to the many national and international visitors that the hotel welcomed. The bar that opened in 1998 is very different to what the hotel now offers. Paddy’s son, John keeps that original vision and continues to invest in and renovate Bar Beoga. In 2011 the bar was totally refurbished and modernised and re-launched as “Bar Beoga” with the addition of a hotel cocktail bar. Ask one of the team to make you a cocktail if staying in the hotel or just passing by with friends. They are really good and the only problem will be to try the same again or try another. In Irish Bar Beoga translates as “Lively Bar” and it keeps its promise with free entertainment every Friday and Saturday night. A great place to enjoy the “craic.” The comfortable surroundings and friendly staff of Bar Beoga create the perfect atmosphere for a morning espresso, carvery lunch or a delicious meal from the bar food menu. The bar opens each morning at 9.30am and offers free news papers, great coffee and tasty food, it is the perfect place to relax or have informal meetings. There is free WIFI throughout the bar and with free car parking also, it is ideal for that meeting or casual get together. Reserved seating is available in Bar Beoga for a sit down meal or we have a range of great reasonably priced party option menus to suit intimate groups or larger parties. Bar Beoga has a great reputation with locals and residents for tasty food. A great selection of tempting breakfast items are available from 9.30am until noon. We take great pride in ensuring that our menus contain plenty of gluten free products. These include really delicious brown bread and yummy scones that many of our guests will order to take home with them. Emily our breakfast and carvery chef has been here since day one and will celebrate 15 years with us in June. She takes great pride in creating fabulous dishes, with juicy roasts, fish and makes sure that the menu is always varied as she has so many regulars. See if you can get the recipe for her gluten free gravy, it tastes fab. Once carvery stops at 3pm our evening menu goes on the table. This menu changes seasonally and the chef trys to source as many locally produced products as possible for it.
