An exciting new menu was launched last night in Bar Beoga at The Menlo Park Hotel.
The new Head Chef at the hotel is Jimmy Ruffley. Jimmy is has a real passion for sourcing local produce as and where possible does this - if not in Galway itself as much as possible in the local region.
Last night The hotel hosted an evening celebration of locally sourced foods and invited it’s local suppliers to come along and give the guests who were present an insight into what they have on offer. Present at the event were representative from Heaney Meats who have a long tradition of supplying Galway with quality produce as well as well know local man Gary Craven who supplies the Menlo Park with fresh quality seafood. The hotel sources it’s sausages from the renowned McGeoghs of Oughterard and they were also represented. In addition representatives were in attendance from Glynns Fruit and Veg and Corrib Foods and tendafrost Foods who are well known for the quality produce they supply to the local hotel and catering industry.
An important feature of the new menu is that it is 80% gluten free. The provision of gluten free food options applies across the board in the hotel from breakfast to dinner to functions and this is a fact which is very much appreciated by the hotel patrons who have food allergies.
Says Jimmy ...
“We Support local suppliers as much as possible.
All of our meats, poultry and Fish are Irish and where possible are sourced within the Connaught region All of our beef is traceable and to minimise our carbon footprint we source Irish ingredients as much as possible. We have an ethos of catering for all dietary requirements.
We place a great emphasis on offering plenty of Gluten free choices and over 80% of our menu is Coeliac friendly. We are happy to cater for any requirements you have so please let us know when ordering.”
The menu is also bi-lingual in line with the hotel’s status as the recipient of the Gradam Seosaimh Uí Ógarthaigh from Gaillimh le Gaeilge and Bríd Ni Conneely Gearóidín Ní Ghioballáin from Gaillimh Le Gaeilge who helped with the translation was present to welcome the introduction of the new bi-lingual menu.
The menu is interesting and represents great value for money. The hotel continues to offer the roast and hot dishes for carvery lunch as well as a very varied selection of sandwiches, salads and lighter options. The new bar menu is available daily from 3 – 9 p.m.
The new bar features lots of new and interesting seating areas –a fact which is being noticed by more and more people from the business community who are enjoying the fresh coffee and homemade scones during the morning as well as the free WIFI.
The hotel also formally launched their Christmas programme and announced that a new concept and menu will be introduced in the hotel’s main restaurant next month. This is a popular venue for family parties and celebrations. For bookings and information please contact -091 779403.
